EFIS MOISTURE INSPECTIONS:

The Barrier EFIS that is used on many homes is not designed to allow large amounts of water to easily evaporate. Undetected, these moisture instrusions can become trapped and soak the substrate or framing of the home causing serious damage to structural integrity of the building. The most common areas of moisture intrusion is around windows and doors, along the roof and anywhere where caulking has decayed and not replaced. Any intrusions into the EFIS is also a potential problem such as mailboxes, decorative moldings, shutters and decks. If problems are identified early, preventative measures can be taken before damage occurs. Inspections can take several hours to perform and may even span to more than a day if problems are discovered.
